How it all began

Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park is a renowned music and camping venue located in Live Oak, Florida. Since its inception in 1976, The parkhas hosted countless music festivals and concerts, and has become an iconic destination for music lovers from all over the world.

The park's story began in the early 1970s, when a man named J. H. Dowling purchased a 700-acre tract of land in Suwannee County. Dowling had a vision of creating a space where people could come together and enjoy music, nature, and community.
He began hosting informal jam sessions on the property, and over time, those sessions grew into larger events.

In 1976, Griffin decided to expand the park and create a larger space for music festivals and concerts. He purchased 800 acres of land near the Suwannee River and began constructing the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park. The park was designed to be a place where people could come together to camp, listen to music, and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. That natural beauty has also played a major role in its success. The Suwannee River runs through the property, and the park is home to numerous natural springs, hiking trails, and campsites. Visitors can swim in the river, tube down the rapids, or simply relax in the shade of the park's many trees.

In 1992, the first official music festival was held at the park, and it was an instant success. Since then, the park has become a hub for music festivals of all genres, including country, rock, blues, and bluegrass. Over the years, the park has grown in popularity and has hosted many famous musicians, including Willie Nelson, The Allman Brothers Band, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. The park has also become a popular destination for music festivals, including the Suwannee Hulaween, Wanee Music Festival, and the Suwannee River Jam.

Today, Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park is a beloved fixture in the Florida music scen, and has become much more than just a music venue. It's a place where people can come together and connect with one another, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the power of music. Whether you're a seasoned festival-goer or a first-timer, the park has something for everyone, and its legacy continues to grow with each passing year.
